Dot Coms Compete for Laid
Off Workers
According to the San Francisco Chronicle:
"No one likes the sound
of a startup's dreams shattering into little pieces or
the slow gurgling of a dot-com whose stock price is sinking.
For Jerry McLaughlin and other
employers in desperate staffing straits, though, it's an
opportune time to move quickly and grab laid-off workers
before they find other jobs.
To lure tech workers laid off
from nearby startups, McLaughlin hung a bright yellow sign
in the window of his customer relations company, User Interface,
which said: 'Your dot.com in trouble? Get in here!'..."
